On Thursday 27th July we had our first porcelain workshop with Taja.
We had a busy day, with 26 visitors having a go at making their own cup. The day was split into 4 sessions, each lasting 45 minutes and up to 8 spaces in each session. It was great to see a range of ages attend and to have families be able to do the workshop together.
We have had some lovely comments from those who came to the workshop:
“Great to create something in the museum space with other people from the community”
“I was able to achieve something I have never done before”
“Thank you for a lovely event.”
Taja will glaze and fire the pots from the workshops and they will feature in the Devon Artist Network Open Studios exhibition at the museum from the 9th-24th September. We can’t wait to see what they look like. All pots will then be collected by the workshop participants from the museum at the end of the season, with a select few going to the exhibition of all artist work in Taunton in November.
Our next workshop is on Thursday 3rd August, with the final session being on Thursday 10th August, see poster below for details. We are also running a special session for museum volunteers.
