I was really pleased to meet the children from Weare First School who kindly invited Axbridge Museum’s Chair of Trustees, John Page, and I to the school for a workshop on the history of writing.

We were able to show the children some of the examples of the ancient documents held by the museum and let them try using some of the historical methods of writing that played a part in the way we write today.

One of the wonderful things about craft is that it makes so many things fun and accessible, for all ages. By linking history to craft the children learnt through play which, I hope, had many positive outcomes – and John and I enjoyed ourselves as well.
